For Jailine Batista, a lifelong New Yorker from the Bronx, earning her MBA in International Business online is more than just getting a master’s degree—it’s a family milestone.
“I’m a first-generation college student,” the 2024 graduate shared. “No one in my family attended college previously until I started. So for me, it’s a big deal.”
Having previously received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Mount Saint Vincent, Jailine understands the value of higher education. “Going to school is always a good plan,” she said. “It provides so many opportunities.”
Jailine developed her passion for business while working in real estate. She wanted to pursue an MBA, but as a full-time office administrator, she couldn’t commit to a traditional graduate program.
“I was looking for a degree that I could complete from home,” she explained.

“I was able to learn from other students and see different perspectives,” Jailine said. “I like to think that they also were able to learn from me.”

But it was the convenience of Jailine’s online program that made her MBA stand out. “I was able to get most of my work done during the evening hours or on the weekends,” Jailine said, adding that the flexible online schedule helped her maintain a healthy work-life balance.
Now the Bronx native is using her MBA knowledge to help her mother open a much needed daycare in Fishkill, located in upstate New York. Jailine’s new business know-how will benefit a small community that doesn’t have enough childcare options to support working parents.
“I definitely recommend it to other students,” Jailine said of the MBA in International Business online program. “Especially [for those] who are working full-time jobs or have other things going on in their personal lives, I think this degree is perfect.”
